GFR volunteers come from all walks of life. They may be doctors, nurses, construction workers, business owners, teachers or students. What they all have in common is they share our passion and desire to help others.
These amazing people help GFR drive our mission to improve humanity worldwide through focusing on healthcare access and delivery, health education and sustainable community infrastructure projects that focus on long-term change.
We can’t wait for you to become part of our global family!
What do our volunteers have to say? We received this note right after our Brazilian Amazon trip in 2025 from Denise B :
“I am still on cloud 9 from the trip!!!!! By far my favorite location, people, food and the overall experience!!!!!
Amor was so accommodating! Several of the translators and Renata went with us on excursions after clinic was over!!!!!
Such an awesome crew.
I definitely want to go again next March. Can you go ahead and add my name to the list or do you need me to wait for the post to come out? If you need me to wait for the post to come out, will you please give me a heads up so that I can sign up immediately. Thanks so much, GFR!”

GFR strives to relieve the financial burden of volunteering on our volunteers. While each trip cost will vary by country, GFR continually works with individual and corporate donors to raise money that pays for all of the medical supplies, medications and construction supplies needed when on the ground.
The trip cost that GFR collects from our volunteers covers their room, board, on-ground transportation and translators that assist our volunteers during clinics.
Volunteers are responsible for paying for their own:
Travel flights in and out of country
Visa costs required by country
Medical Evacuation Insurance, required for all team members
Trip Insurance (optional)
Individual supplies donated by the volunteer
Vaccinations and antimalarial medications
Medical Liability Insurance, required for Providers
