WAIT LIST FOR UKRAINIAN RELIEF MISSIONS
This is a tax deductible donation to Global First Responder. The cost will be determined as trips are confirmed. Volunteers are also responsible for purchasing their international airfare.
About the trip: More than 5 million people are expected to be displaced during the current conflict in the Ukraine. At present, the typical refugee camp is not being set up to house people. Rather, people are going to relatives, hotels, and apartments as they wait to see when they can return home. Many people are moving on to relatives in Western Europe and beyond.
Global First Responder is already on the ground, doing the groundwork and building partnerships that will make it possible for our team members to provide direct relief to people in the greatest of need. The greatest need is for humanitarian relief: food and clothing distributions to ensure that people can travel on to safety. AT THIS TIME, WE DO NOT HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL TRIPS PLANNED.
GFR will be sending humanitarian teams as this crisis continues. These teams will not focus on nor provide medical care. Our first team is full and we currently have a long waiting list. Please be patient as we work to create a safe and effective place for you to give your time and passion. Please APPLY to the trip so that we can remain in contact with you regarding dates and requirements. If you have traveled with us in the past, using our old application, please apply again as we now have a new application system in place.
PLEASE NOTE: Being “accepted” to a team means that your application has been received and you will receive updates as we have a trip available.
You need to be physically and mentally fit to participate on this trip. Be prepared to be self-sufficient. Evacuation Insurance is a mandatory requirement to participate. We will not know the specific needs of the people in the areas where we will work until we have confirmed our participation – PLEASE BE PATIENT. We will update our volunteers when we have new information. Remember, you need to apply to be updated.
Arrivals and Departures: When an applicant has been added to a team, we will notify you with the specifics. You will have the option to accept or decline the team spot at that time. No payment is required until you have accepted a position on a team. The cost will be determined for each team at that time, based on GFR’s actual costs.
What’s Included: GFR trips are generally all-inclusive with few exceptions. We will let the team members know the cost of the trip as soon as possible. Please see the “How is Your Cost Calculated” section below to learn more about costs.
What’s Not Included: Your international airfare, pre/post trip travel costs and expenses, evacuation insurance, medical insurance, travel insurance, personal items required for participation.
Cost: Cost will be determined as soon as possible. You are responsible for purchasing airfare that meets the required arrival and departure times. We always suggest giving yourself extra time for delayed or cancelled flights. This trip is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You or your donors will receive a tax receipt upon making your donation.
Insurance: Insurance is your responsibility.
GFR highly recommends that you purchase trip cancellation insurance, emergency international medical evacuation insurance, and international health insurance if you don’t have health insurance in your home country. On medical trips, medical providers are required to carry international malpractice insurance for the duration of the trip.
How is your cost calculated?: At Global First Responder we strive to keep your costs low and our quality high. We value your participation and willingness to volunteer your time and expertise. Everyone at Global First Responder is also a volunteer, donating their time to administrative tasks and paying their own way to participate in medical and construction missions around the world and here at home. The fee you pay covers the actual cost of your expenses in country including lodging, transportation, meals, and translator fees and expenses. At GFR, no one is paid a salary and everyone is a passionate volunteer, doing our part to help drive our mission of “One World, One Family”.
