Health through Walls

Health through Walls is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist developing countries in implementing sustainable improvements to health services within their penitentiaries. A primary focus of the effort is the identification, prevention, and management of infectious disease, especially HIV and tuberculosis.

The assistance of volunteer doctors, nurses, technicians, and others is needed.

Association of Baptists for World Evangelism

The Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, an independent mission agency based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has healthcare ministries throughout the world, which include full-service hospitals, mobile and itinerant medical clinics, crisis pregnancy centers, and community health evangelism teams.

Volunteer anesthesiologists, dentists, dental hygienists, hospital administrators, midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses, obstetricians and gynecologists, pediatricians, pharmacists, and physical therapists, physicians, physician assistants, and surgeons are needed.

Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery

The Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery, a nonprofit organization, was founded by a group of leading neurosurgeons in order to address the critical lack of trained neurosurgeons in developing countries.

Volunteer neurosurgeons and personnel teach their techniques to local neurosurgeons, set up neurosurgery residency programs, and provide critical assistance in the operating room.

Canadian Network for International Surgery

With teaching overseas done by professional clinical volunteers, the Canadian Network for International Surgery, a registered Canadian charity, provides surgical training that enables the African people to save millions of lives each year.


The primary mission of Humanitas, a UK-registered charity, is to prevent the abandonment and the institutionalisation of children. Humanitas achieves this through a variety of medical and support projects and by providing homes for children though foster care and family style residential homes.

Humanitas currently has volunteer opportunities in their Romanian medical clinic and also within their Treatment and Training Programme.

The mission of The King’s Village Project, a Ghanaian NGO, is to provide quality health care, education, water and sanitation, social and economic services for poverty alleviation and raising a generation of transformational leaders.

Christian Eye Ministry

Christian Eye Ministry (CEM) is a North Carolina-based nonprofit organization which is working to improve eye care in Ghana and Honduras. In addition to basic eye services and training of healthcare professionals, CEM conducts research projects focused on common eye diseases in these populations.

There is a need for ophthalmologists (especially those with surgical skills), optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, ophthalmic surgical nurses, and other healthcare professionals to volunteer.

Medics Without Borders

Medics Without Borders is a Ghanaian NGO that exists to help the sick and the poor who do not have access to affordable medical services and products.

Volunteers in the various medical disciplines are highly encouraged to volunteer. This includes doctors, surgeons, nurses, physician assistants, medical/nursing students, EMTs, radiologists, physiotherapists, physical therapists, palliative care physicians and nurses, mental health professionals, etc.

Burn Survivors Throughout the World has needs for medical professionals to volunteer internationally and in the states of Colorado, Florida, and Texas.
